Connection

POVERTY. HUNGER. CLIMATE CHANGE

These are human problems. They require human solutions – and humans are social animals. The “go it alone” mentality that has emerged from our culture of fierce individualism has caused us to adopt the unnatural practice of leading an isolated existence. That disconnection is not benign.

When we acknowledge our need for connection – when we seek it and cultivate it- we gain understanding. When we gain understanding, we can overcome our fears, and step into acceptance, compassion, and, ultimately, love. Connection reminds us that we are one.

We’re all the same. We all share a common need for autonomy, a sense of belonging, and the freedom to explore and to be creative. The world’s most pressing issues cannot be solved by the affluent and powerful reaching down and giving conditional handouts, they can only be solved by working together to achieve common goals – and building life-long relationships along the way
